The Top Five Male Careers
"Get a Job"
--The Silhouettes
So I am a geek, huh?
AOL listed five dream jobs for males. Here they are:
1. Video Game Designer
2. Brewmaster
3. Toy Creator
4. Comic Book Guru
5. Casino Host
Ok, I admit, I have no desire to play video games. I really have not invested in a system or the time to play them.
I also would create cool superhero toys—like when I was a kid or what I felt they SHOULD be when I was a kid.
As far as Casino Host—nah. I do not like to gamble, but when I do, I usually win. You see, I have a set limit and I understand the concept of knowing when to hold ‘em and knowing when to fold ‘em.
I would add DJ or record producer to the list. Every guy I know has some expertise on one phase of music.
Which brings me to the last two—Comic Book Guru and Brewmaster.
Talk to me on these two.
Having more than a passing knowledge of beer and comics, I think I would do well in either area.
Now my “geekdom” is complete. Read my previous posts.
What exactly a “comic book guru” is, I have no idea. I mean, the profitability of the genre would be regulated to writing, drawing or selling comics. I do a bit of the latter on eBay (check out my eBay page) but I have no ability to draw and my stories would be a bit on the gory side of life and not fit for children.
Brewmaster—yes, I can tell what is good, what is passable, and what is horrid. My palate for beer is sharp, my sense of taste and smell is unique and my sense of quality is unsurpassed (only by my modesty). I have tried to make my own beer with no success. Alas, I am not a cook. With training, however, I could excel, I am sure.
So my career as a Social Science teacher is kind of a combination of all of the above. I talk of popular culture and comics in Sociology. I talk of video games in Psychology. I talk of the addictions in life, gambling being one of them, in Psychology. In History we look at brewing and beer (Pilgrims, Ancient Egyptians, and others) as well as how the toys reflect the times.
I have the best of all worlds—and I can throw in some blood and guts from war; political intrigue, and good-old fashioned fun in the history classes.
Social Science teacher should have been on the list—I bet it is in the top ten.

I'd say in a way you already are a Comic Book Guru. I thought I'd post this for you since I know you'll be interested in it: http://comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=15485
Frank Miller to direct Eisner's The Spirit movie
I saw that, thanks!
A comic Guru, well...yes...but there is no money in it.
By The way, After reading Frank Miller's All-Star Batman--has he lost it or what?
I'm thinking he's probably too distracted with films. He just did 300, and he's working on Sin City 2 and 3. I agree though, so far I'm not too impressed with All-Star. I'm hoping he'll pull it together, after all he did do Dark Knight Returns. Doesn't seem like the same old Frank to me when I read it
